Our Pastor

Pastor Scott Libby

Serving since 1988

A native of Newport, Vermont, Pastor Libby has shepherded this congregation since 1988. He is a graduate of Grace Theological Seminary, and his ministry has been marked by patient, verse-by-verse teaching and a quiet, faithful love for the people of the Northeast Kingdom.

For decades he has opened the Scriptures week after week, pointing the church to Christ — and to nothing else. His prayers and his preaching reflect the conviction that God's Word is sufficient for every question that matters.

“We have no agenda but the Bible. We have no message but Christ and Him crucified, and no hope but the grace of God.”

Our Purpose

A two-fold calling

Everything we do as a church answers to two simple directions — one God-ward, one man-ward — both drawn straight from Scripture.

I

God-ward

To glorify and enjoy the Lord Jesus Christ — gathering to worship His name, sing His praise, and magnify His worth above all else.

“Whether therefore ye eat, or drink, or whatsoever ye do, do all to the glory of God.” — 1 Corinthians 10:31

II

Man-ward

To make disciples — through evangelism that calls sinners to Christ and teaching that brings them to maturity in His Word.

“Go ye therefore, and teach all nations… teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you.” — Matthew 28:19–20

Our Roots

Long established,quietly faithful

The Northeast Kingdom is its own country — quiet, rooted, and unhurried. Grace Brethren Church has shared that character for generations. We've never been the largest church on the mountain, and we don't try to be.

What we are is a gathered body of believers who love the Lord, love one another, and love His Word. Some ministries of past decades are no longer here; what remains is the thing that matters most — the steady preaching of the Bible and the fellowship of God's people each Lord's Day.

If you're looking for a church home in the Irasburg area, or simply passing through, you're welcome here.
